Champagne is a strictly defined wine-growing region in France with around 34,000 hectares of vineyards where only traditional bottle fermentation (also called méthode traditionnelle or méthode champenoise) is allowed. Grapes from the three varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier may be used for the finest of all sparkling wines.
