Loibenberg is the largest contiguous individual vineyard in the Wachau. Most of it is bare primary rock, but loess has blown into some bays and depressions. This barren, rugged land became, under enormous pressure, gneiss for over 500 million years and weathered to form primary rock. Riesling grown from these Loibenberg vineyards expresses a delicate elegance and subtle minerality. Late ripening grapes can be found on the uppermost stone terraces, which, due to an extended period on the vine, produce an enormous amount of fine fruitiness and piquancy. A precise structure, deep fruit and, above all, eloquence best describe Loibenberg Riesling.

On the nose, it shows herbal spices and dark minerals with yellow tropical fruit. It's juicy on the palate, with an elegant texture, some sweetness, white fruit, fresh acidity, lively structure and fine lemony nuances in the aftertaste. Clear as a bell and pure, it's a wine that slips down easily. This is how a great Riesling Smaragd from the Wachau should taste.
