Austria – Small in Size, Big on Quality

The best wines from the Alps

Austrian winegrowers manage around 45,000 hectares of vineyards, with two-thirds planted with white grapes and one-third with red varieties. Grüner Veltliner, Zweigelt, and Welschriesling are the dominant grapes. Viticulture thrives primarily in eastern Austria, where the country’s key wine regions are found, including southern Styria, Burgenland, the Wachau, and the Weinviertel. Notably, Vienna is the only capital city in the world with a significant wine-growing industry!
