Himmelreich is the name of the vineyard that Leo Sommer and his fellow members from the Donnerskirchen wine quartet revitalised many years ago. This ancient vineyard was abandoned in the 1950s because the new tractors of the time simply could not manage the slope. It was overgrown and rediscovered by chance while hiking.

Today, the special qualites of the wine and the location can be felt with the feet, hands, nose, eyes and ears. This great Grüner Veltliner was matured in wooden barrels and has so much power and substance that every sip is a huge pleasure. It is creamy and elegant. Herbal spice with exotic hints on the nose. Juicy, mineral, complex with fine extracts sweetness on the palate. Lingers on the finish and leaves a subtle salty note. A multi-layered symphony on the palate!

A perfect food companion that needs a little airing in the glass. Plus, it has excellent ageing potential.
