Description
One of the best, if not the best Chardonnay in Austria! Every year, this white wine is one of the ambassadors of the country and is highly praised by national and international critics. Rightly so, we think!
The Katterstein vineyard was mentioned in a document as early as 1570! A south-east facing slope is framed by the forest of the Leitha Mountains. It's as if it were made for Chardonnay with vines on calcareous slate soil. Aged and matured in small wooden barrels made of French oak, the wine is still very young, but easy to drink.
Every sip is intense and enormously complex. As in Burgundy, the grape variety takes a backseat to the terroir of the vineyard. Yeast, brioche and delicate wood with ripe yellow fruits. Pure minerality! Finely structured and balanced right into the eternally long finish. Really great! Enormous storage potential of 20 years and more.
A wine to meditate on and for very special moments in life.
