The Blaufränkisch / Lemberger Grape Varietal

Blaufränkisch (called Lemberger in Germany & Kekfrankos in Hungary) is undoubtedly Austria's flagship red wine grape. Though it isn't the most wildly grown varietal, it makes the best-quality reds. Under international comparison, no other red varietal produces wines that are so highly praised and sought after. Some of the best red wines in Austria, in Burgenland in particular, are made from this varietal.
