The Fabian vineyard in Deutschkreutz is characterised by heavy clay soils. Here Berni Ernst shows that with elaborate craftsmanship and the necessary flair, a heavy red wine can become lean and complex.

After 18 months in new oak barrels, the tannins are nicely polished. Juicy, ripe cherries with a hint of nougat roll over the tongue. Coordinated with the spiciness of the Blaufränkisch, it glides down the palate into a juicy, long finish. A culinary circus from the particularly beautiful 2018 vintage.

Wonderful with steaks or a revelation with good chocolate.
