With the most hours of sunshine and the highest temperature peaks, Andau is an Austrian hotspot. This is not just a tourist PR gag for Austria's easternmost wine-growing region, but a guarantee for highly ripe grapes and full-bodied, opulent wine.

With around 65 hectares, the Scheiblhofer winery is one of the larger wineries in Burgenland. Its fun and lascivious attitude to life combined with rock-hard perfectionism in winemaking and cellar management creates unique value for money.

Erich Scheiblhofer is part of the young guard in Burgenland and has attracted a lot of attention in recent years, especially with his top red wines. He has travelled the world to gain experience with masters in their field in California and Australia, and implements their best ideas in his own company, which was only founded in 1999. After the first harvest in 2000, his Zweigelt became "Prädium", which makes it his most important wine, and a state and national winner. The following year, the Zweigelt won the Falstaff Grand Prix, and a year later it came third in the same competition. The top wines of this committed winemaker are Merlot and Shiraz, which also come from the Prädium vineyard. The Merlots from 2002 and 2004 and the 2008 and 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon became Falstaff varietal winners. Nationally, this young company is the most awarded winery with at least one state and national winner every year. It broke all Austrian records internationally as well: At the world's largest wine evaluation, the AWC, the title "Winery of the year" went to the Scheiblhofers in 6 out of 8 years. The 2011 vintage has caused the greatest international furore so far. Markus del Monego and Andreas Larsson rated the cuvée “Big John” with 94.5 points as the highest rated wine in Austria, closely followed by the “Legends” cuvée with 93.5 points. The 19/20 points from René Gabriel for Cabernet Sauvignon and "Jois" Blaufränkisch are no less spectacular.
