One of the best Merlots in the country from a top winery! This powerful and complex Merlot is only available in the best years. The grapes come from the Jungeberg vineyard on Vienna's Bisamberg, a very sheltered south-east facing area with little wind, which always heats up in the summer. This and the loess-containing soils on massive limestone produce excellent red wine.

After about 3 weeks of maceration, the Grand Select was poured into barriques (50% new wood) and matured for 30 months. The wine was bottled without any refining or filtration and was then given the necessary time to mature in the bottle. Now this powerful wine, made in the international style, is showing its most beautiful side.

Typical Merlot notes; smoky spice on the nose, underlaid with cherry fruit, nougat and delicately candied orange zest. Complex on the palate, chocolate texture, well-integrated tannins. The wine impresses with its length, a fine touch of blackberry in the aftertaste and its long development potential. A wine for meditation, large celebrations or perfect with steak.
