With Marques de Tomares, we have discovered a real gem from the Rioja Alte. The history of Marques de Tomares goes back to the year 1886, and a very well-known soft drink saw the light of day in the same year. The current owner of the Oscar Montana winery is the 6th generation of vintners and already owned several very well-known wineries in Spain. But Marques de Tomares became his personal project, which he now runs with great pride. It's a family-run winery with a small team that is fully committed to quality. 106 hectares are cultivated in the Rioja Alta, with vines between 30 and 130 years old. These are mostly Tempranillo, but there is also some Garnacha, Mazuelo and a little Graciano. The wines are intended for long storage and are high-quality across the board. Isaac Fernandes takes care of the red wine as the winemaker. Before starting at Marques de Tomares he was at Vega Sicila and the co-founder of Mauro. Marcos Lojo takes care of the white wines and produces some of the best Albarinos in Spain.
