Description
The cultivation of PIWI (fungus-resistant) grape varietals is increasing steadily. The Cabernet Blanc is such a varietal that has been authorised as a quality wine in Austria since last year. It is an interspecific cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and resistance partners and was first introduced in Switzerland in 1991.
In addition to the PIWI varietals Muscaris and Souvignier Gris, Josef Scharl has also been cultivating the Cabernet Blanc varietal for the past two years and won the 2020 wine competition right away!
This dry white wine is rather light and fruity and can resemble a Sauvignon Blanc or a Riesling. It was classically matured in steel tanks. With notes of gooseberries and currants. A hint of spice, taut with pleasant acidity. Juicy on the palate and a true pleasure to drink!
