Description
Gernot Heinrich's iconic, highly awarded cuvée was an immediate hit. Prominent taste setters such as Falstaff, A la Carte, etc. regularly award the highest points to this red wine blend. Gabarinza is the name of the best and oldest hillside vineyard in Gols. This hand-picked blend is made from Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Merlot grapes, and owes its high storage potential to the delicate tannins, diverse aromas and a nicely balanced acidity structure.
After 28 months in a used 500l oak barrel, the wine is definitely still young. With a little air in the glass, it appears a deep dark ruby garnet with violet reflections. It's attractive and multifaceted on the nose with dark berries. Juicy, powerful and yet elegant on the palate, with well-integrated tannins, it grips tightly and powerfully. It could be stored for another 15 years or more, but who wants to wait that long?
If you want to impress yourself or someone else with a great Austrian red, try this!
