Ramos Pinto Late bottled vintage LBV 2018, 0,75 L

LBV stands for "Late Bottled Vintage," indicating that this exceptional port wine from the 2017 vintage was allowed extended barrel ageing, only being bottled in its fourth year without blending vintages.

Ramos Pinto, in our opinion, is one of the premier producers employing this traditional winemaking method. Port wine typically blends red Indigenous grapes such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and a mix of Vinhas Velhas, Barroca, and Sousão. After approximately four days of fermentation, the wine is fortified with its grape spirit, halting fermentation and resulting in a wine with 19.5% alcohol by volume and a natural residual sugar content of almost 100 g/l.

These attributes give the wine its unique character: a dark, almost black-red colour with an intense nose of ripe red fruits, dried fruit, and chocolate. On the palate, it is powerful and intensely fruity yet balanced with fresh flavours. The mouthfeel is superb, and the finish lingers impressively, delighting even those who typically do not enjoy port wine.

This LBV port has the potential to age gracefully for many decades. It pairs wonderfully with chocolate desserts, cheese, or dried fruits.

Tip: Enjoy it slightly chilled, and an opened bottle can be kept in the fridge for several weeks.
