Grauburgunder, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris are different names for the same grape. It's very changeable and has a completely different character depending on where it is grown. As a pleasing Pinot Grigio, it is consumed every day by many holidaymakers in Italy without giving much thought to what grape is actually in the glass.

Weingut Meßmer's Pinot Gris is in a different league.

It's a typical Grauburgunder colour with almost pale pink reflections. On the nose, one notices the lime-streaked soil, plus a lot of pear aromas, some quince and a hint of tropical fruit. It's complex with good pressure on the palate and present but not overly strong acidity, which is typical for Pinot Gris. Harmonious and easy to drink. A great accompaniment to food, but also fun at parties.
