Description

If anyone understands Grauburgunder grapes, it's Stefan Krispel. This new Riedenwein (the best Styrian wine) has rightly twice been awarded 95 points, making it the best of its varietal.

The Neusetzberg vineyard in the Styrian volcanic region is characterised by shell limestone and a thick layer of red clay. After 12 months in small barriques and then 6 months in large wooden barrels, this creamy, dry white wine is showing its potential, although it can still be stored for a good 10-15 years.

There's very balanced minerality on the nose and palate. Exotic fruits such as melons and orange zest emerge. At first, it's full and round, then stronger but with very good acidity. Becomes more elegant and delicate after every sip and extends into a very long finish. Leaves behind a big grin and calls for the next sip.

Pairs wonderfully with Mangalica pork, mushrooms or other hearty, vegetarian dishes. Or just drink in a glass on its own.
