Weingut Ecker - Eckhof Roter Veltliner Ried Steinberg 2020

Bernhard Ecker is THE specialist for Roter Veltliner and develops it in three different stages. This medium-strong wine from the top Steinberg vineyard is a prime example of what the grape can do and clearly shows how beautifully this unique varietal can develop. Although it's still young, it's showing its full size and boasts a full aroma.

Aged dry partly in steel tanks and partly in large wooden acacia barrels. Ripe greengages and blossom honey jump out of the glass. On the palate, it's juicy, mineral, slightly salty, fresh and very well balanced. There's a long-lasting finish with a subtle fruity sweetness. It's highly praised by the trade press and almost always awarded 93 points by A la Carte and Falstaff. Although it will continue to develop for the next few years and has a storage potential of a good 10 years, it's already well worth drinking.
