Domaine Testut Chablis Grand Cru Grenouille 2019, 0,75 L

What a wine! Perhaps we are exaggerating, but we don't care because this Grand Cru really made an impression and we love it without ifs, ors, or buts. We were at a Christmas party a few years ago with great, great wines that we praised to heaven. Then this Chablis came to the table and overshadowed all other wines. Something like that sticks in the mind.

But about the wine itself. With only 9 hectares, Grand Cru Grenouille is one of the smallest and therefore most sought-after Grand Cru locations in Chablis and regularly produces top wines.

In 2019, the wine has an impressive golden colour and brilliance. It's still very youthful on the nose, but with a lot of air cool and mineral notes typical of Chablis are revealed, along with oranges and citrus. A lot is going on here, so make sure you're not forcing it into tiny glasses. On the palate, the wine starts as very multifaceted. On the one hand, it's creamy, but builds up real tension in the mouth, full of pressure. There's delicate sweetness from the wood, plus the creamy terroir components, with exotic hints, super complex and very long finish.

Wow doesn't get used very often, but with a Chablis of this size, we count ourselves lucky to have a few bottles of our own.
