Château Clos de Boüard La Dame du Boüard Montagne St. Emilion 2019, 0,75 L

The latest project by the owners of the famous Château Angelus, Clos de Boüard, shows considerable ambition even with a "basic" wine.

It was immediately obvious to us that we had a serious wine in our glass. With Angelus' know-how, they are able to branch out into other projects whilst maintaining the same quality.

The wine is still very youthful in the glass, dense but not completely opaque.

Very ripe, typical Merlot fruit on the nose, but not excessively loud. There are also tones of graphite and delicate minerals. With air, more and more red berries appear, alongside a little vanilla.

On the palate, we noticed the youth of the wine. It's still quite elegant, with very ripe tannins and a beautiful structure. In addition, there is the well-integrated and present acidity, which makes it a very animating wine. Tones of leather and vanilla are present, and the finish is pleasantly red berry and long-lasting.

An exciting wine that really impressed James Suckling who gave it a top rating. If it currently needs a lot of air and a little maturity, but it will develop nicely.
