Azienda Renieri Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016, 0,75 L

This Brunello is on the way to becoming a cult wine. If one of the great wine critics pulls out 100 points, then you shouldn't be surprised if the wine sells out quickly. This was the case with the 2015 vintage. 2016 is a bit behind, but is still one of the top red wines in Italy. What we particularly like about the 2016 vintage is the elegance the wine expresses; it's not quite as bulky as its predecessor.

Medium-density ruby garnet in the glass easily shimmers through. Please decant the wine for a long time to ensure it drinks well even in its youth. Lots of variation: Cherry joins with noticeable wood and minerality, tones of leather and an earthy component.

On the palate, the wine rises in the mouth after a few seconds. The tannins are noticeably present, and very ripe but not too rough. The longer the wine is in the glass, the more powerful it becomes. It has a very nice acidity curve, plus coffee and toffee, which is also noticeable in the finish. Very good length - a wine that puts a smile on your face - more of it, please!
