Montirius Vignoble Bio-Dynamique Confidentiel Gigondas AOP 2015 Organic, 0,75 L

Grandiose - that was pretty much the first word that came to mind when we tasted this wine.

The Saurel family has been managing the estate biodynamically since 1999. All their wines mature exclusively in concrete tanks or in the bottle and no wood is used here, and yet powerful, highly complex and enormously stimulating wines are created.

Confidentiel regularly receives top ratings in the region of 94 points or more, but to be honest, with such a wine, points are irrelevant. It's too special to leave it to the vagaries of wine critics. It would be far better to sit down by the fireplace with a large glass and just enjoy the fact that such wines exist.

In the glass, the wine is deeply dark and almost opaque. On the nose, it has an enormously complex scent of dark berries, liquorice, vanilla, violets and mineral notes. It definitely needs a lot of air and time. Vibrant, multilayered on the palate, lots of dark fruit and extremely powerful. Powerful, very ripe tannins line the mouth, the alcohol is barely noticeable, astonishingly, though it is perhaps noticeable through a kind of pepperiness. Very balanced, the wine ends in a really long and powerful finish.

A wine, no, an entire winery that has taken our hearts by storm, and we are sure that it will not be just us!
