Díaz Bayo 20 Meses Reserva 2015

Ribera del Duero is finding more and more friends and rightly so! Only a few wines are so complex at the same time and yet create so much drinking pleasure.

The Diaz Bayo Reserva is really dark in the glass, almost totally opaque.

We smell a lot of dark fruit, leather, tobacco, dried fruits, liquorice and even something floral. There's also a touch of blackberry. Lots of flavours but extremely exciting, with joy from the first sip.

On the palate, it is dense and fleshy, with dried fruits making for a great drinking experience. We noticed the wood in which the wine was matured, but it fits perfectly. The tannins are present but very ripe, plus there's a very fresh-looking acidity that loosens the mouthfeel a bit.

At the end, coffee and raisins join the aromas. A powerful wine with a lot of structure, but it is already super tasty.

As a food companion, find something strong and spicy. Meat, stews, strong, mature cheese, or simply leave out the food and enjoy the wine on its own.
